Nestled on the outskirts of Kentisbury, the dog-friendly self-catering cottage is only a short drive from North Devon’s popular golden coastline home to Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton, as well as being within easy reach of Exmoor National Park.

Inside

The pretty one-bedroom barn conversion, The Stable at White Meadow is nestled within the countryside hamlet of Kentisbury, which lies just a few miles from the coastal resort of Combe Martin in North Devon, as well as being located on the edge of Exmoor National Park, making this a great setting for enjoy a holiday.

The self-catering cottage has been tastefully decorated throughout and features a large open plan living area with wood burning stove, a bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen. Outside, guests staying at The Stable can enjoy a wonderful, private garden.

Living Area

On arrival guests enter The Stable at White Meadow via a small conservatory, which has views of the garden, it is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a book or a cup of tea as you look out for the local birds that visit the garden.

Inside, the cottage has a good sized, open-plan living area that has been divided into a cosy lounge and a well-equipped kitchen. The lounge has a comfy sofa for relaxing, a wood-burning stove for chilly winter evenings and a TV. Within the kitchen are all the necessary appliances for creating a home cooked meal, including an electric oven with hob, a fridge/freezer, and a dishwasher. The dining table can be found within the conservatory.

Bedroom with en-suite

At the end of the day, retreat to the bedroom which has a king-size bed and benefits from its own en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath and shower overhead. Please note there is limited space at the end of the bed, so this may make it unsuitable for disabled guests requiring access to the bathroom.

Outside

Outside, guests can take advantage of the wonderful, secluded garden that features not only a lovely lawn but also a patio with garden furniture where you can enjoy alfresco dinners.

At your doorstep

Situated in the countryside hamlet of Kentisbury, White Meadow is on the doorstep of both North Devon’s golden coastline made up of award-winning beaches such as Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton, and Exmoor National Park. The two beautifully meet at the nearby village of Combe Martin, which has its own small beach perfect for family days out with plenty of rock pools to explore. Combe Martin also has a few convenience stores for day-to-day essentials, a butcher, a garage and a couple of good pubs and cafes. From Combe Martin you can hire kayaks and set off to explore the local coastline, which include Watermouth Cove and Broadsands.

A little closer to White Meadow within Kentisbury itself is a small garage with attached shop, there is also Kentisbury Grange that has a very good restaurant serving a variety of meals and afternoon teas. Just a couple of miles down the road is the Pyne Arms an excellent pub and restaurant that is well worth a visit.

Further afield

For attractions, the National Trust managed Arlington Court along with Combe Martin Dinosaur and Wildlife Park are less than a 10-minute drive. Watermouth Cove, Ilfracombe Aquarium and Exmoor Zoo are nearby.

Walking

If looking to get out and about on foot, the South West Coast Path can easily be picked up in Combe Martin with routes heading off either over Exmoor to Heddon’s Mouth or along the coastline to Ilfracombe. Cyclists will love the local lanes with their challenging climbs, for more leisurely rides the Tarka Trail, which runs from Braunton all the way to Meeth is mainly level and traffic free. Horse riding can also be enjoyed nearby either at Dean Riding Stables or Mullacott Equestrian Centre.

Exmoor

Exmoor National Park is also easily accessed from White Meadows and well worth a visit. Enjoy a day walking the heather clad moors before settling down for a traditional cream tea in one of the pretty villages such as Lynmouth where Exmoor meets the sea.

White Meadow Holiday Cottages are open all year round and short breaks are available outside of the school holidays. To secure a booking we require a 30% deposit deposit with the outstanding balance due eight weeks prior to arrival. A small booking fee is also applied at the time of reservation to cover the administration and processing of each booking.

Payment methods accepted when booking a holiday at White Meadow include debit/credit card, bank transfer, PayPal and cheque.

Dogs are accepted at White Meadow Holiday Cottages and are charged at an additional £30.00 each, please let My Favourite Cottages know if a dog will be staying. Infants in cots are also welcome, however, please note there is limited space within the cottage and no cot or high chair are provided.
